About James Menzies
My name is James Menzies. I am originally from England. I moved to Oklahoma, USA in 2009 to continue my career as a freelance photographer and video producer. For 6 years i worked as a storm tracker at KWTV 9 in Oklahoma city. I have been chasing/photographing storms and scenery for over 16 years. I acquired my first camera at 14 years old and took my first lightning photo at 15 during a severe storm at my boarding school in Southampton, England. From then i was hooked on storms, and learnt more and more about them in Geography at school, as well as buying books and videos for self education in the field of Meteorology. It was in 98 that i attended the University of Oklahoma School Of Meteorology. Unfortunately due to my dyslexia at the time, i never managed to finish my degree due to the extreme level of Math required. However i took with me everything i had learnt and put it to good use in the field of storm chasing. I returned to England and went on to study Photography and Broadcasting. So here i am, years later living in the heart of Tornado Alley, where some of the worlds most violent weather occurs every year, and in a country that holds many many areas of natural beauty that i will spend most of my future years exploring and capturing on camera.
